A convoy transporting Morara Kebaso, a lawyer-turned-activist, was involved in a road accident on Sunday evening. The team was returning from Embu County after a tour to relaunch several government projects.

Accident Details

The crash occurred between 7 and 8 p.m. as Morara’s vehicle was struck in a side collision. Morara took to his X account (formerly Twitter) to share the news, stating:

“I have been involved in a road accident, side collision, in Kivwe, Embu County.”

According to Morara, the collision happened when a drunk driver sped off and hit the side of his vehicle. Fortunately, all the tires on the Prado he was traveling in burst, and the airbags deployed, preventing any injuries.

Inspection of Stalled Projects

Morara’s convoy had just completed a civic tour of Tharaka Nithi County, where he inspected various stalled development projects. Among these projects was the Chogoria – Weru – Marima road, which had been allocated Ksh1 billion in 2019. Reports suggest that the contract was awarded to a nonexistent company.

He also inspected the Kieni-Kiandege-Mworoga Road, which had been allocated Ksh700 million. Despite its launch, little to no progress had been made at the construction site.

Address at Chuka University

Earlier in the day, Morara addressed students at Chuka University Christian Union, urging them to actively defend their country.

“I spoke about the need for university students to rise in many ways and defend their nation. I also spoke about the defilement of places of worship and why we should not give up hope in bringing change to our country,” he posted.

Support from Embu Residents

During his tour in Embu, residents surprised Morara with cash donations in support of his civic education campaigns. This gesture came despite his earlier announcement to refund money to supporters who felt misled by his initiatives.

“I cannot continue to tarnish my reputation and earn the tag of a conman or beggar. It’s not worth it. I have a company to run and a family that loves me. For this reason, I would like to refund any Kenyan that has supported me and felt conned,” he shared.

Morara’s Civic Campaigns

Despite the accident and other obstacles, Morara remains determined to inspect stalled government projects and push for accountability. His civic campaigns have gained support across the country, with more people rallying behind his cause to ensure transparency in government projects.
