Nine Bodies Found at Mukuru Slums

Residents of Mukuru slums in Nairobi were left in shock on Friday after the discovery of nine bodies at a local dumpsite. Wrapped in sacks, the bodies were found around midday by local youths. Police quickly arrived to retrieve the remains and transport them to the mortuary for identification and autopsy.

The bodies were in various states of decomposition, some fresh, others decomposed. Preliminary investigations indicate that eight of the victims were women, with some showing signs of burns. Authorities believe the victims were killed elsewhere and then dumped near Kware Police Station.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei confirmed the deaths are being treated as murders. He noted that the investigation is ongoing, with concerns that more bodies might be discovered due to the dumpsite’s expansive nature. The site continued to emit a foul odor even after the initial nine bodies were removed.

This grim discovery has heightened fears within the community, especially amidst ongoing concerns about missing persons following last month’s anti-tax protests. Several individuals have been reported missing; some were found dead in mortuaries, while others remain unaccounted for. Various government agencies are currently investigating these disappearances, adding to the distress faced by affected families.
