Known for her sharp critiques, Pauline Njoroge isn’t one to hold back, especially towards social media activists supporting the government. With a sizable online following, she often directs the narrative on political and governance issues.
Njoroge was a strong backer of former president Uhuru Kenyatta. She was a key player in Azimio La Umoja’s social media team. She supported Raila Odinga’s 2022 campaign and didn’t switch sides post-election. Unlike some allies who shifted allegiance, she embraced the role of a vocal government critic.
Now, her sights are set on bloggers promoting the government’s agenda, particularly those supporting President William Ruto. On October 13, she took to Facebook, noting a decline in their online activity.
Previously, these bloggers highlighted Ruto’s focus on uplifting low-income Kenyans, often labeling him ‘doyen.’
In her tweet, Njoroge questions their recent silence and the ceased usage of the term ‘doyen’ for Ruto. This query hints at a perceived shift in the narrative or a lull in the government’s delivery. She especially focuses on lowering the cost of living, a promise yet unfulfilled a year into Ruto’s tenure.
A while back, Njoroge stirred discussions when she claimed that some individuals in Ruto’s government offered her a lucrative deal to switch allegiance. The offer was a KSh 500,000 monthly pay. It was revealed during a spat with lawyer Silas Jakakimba, who defended the current government’s financial management.
She challenged Jakakimba’s defense, contrasting it with the alleged offer. She thus highlighted what she sees as hypocrisy within the ruling party’s ranks.
Jakakimba didn’t respond to Njoroge’s revelation, leaving her claim unchallenged.
Pauline Njoroge’s audacious stance continues to echo within the social media spheres, keeping the government’s online proponents on their toes while amplifying the opposition’s narrative.
