Ajib Gathoni, a popular TikTok influencer known for her dance content, is contemplating forced menopause as a possible solution to her painful battle with adenomyosis. She received the diagnosis last month and has since been open about her experience with this condition, which causes her excruciating pain during her menstrual cycles.
Living With Adenomyosis: A Painful Reality
The 25-year-old influencer revealed the severe pain she endures every month. Her periods have become more than just cramps—they’re a constant battle with sharp, intense pain.
“That random sharp pain you get in your butt hole when you’re on your period has got to be the worst thing anyone has to go through,” she shared on social media, expressing the added agony she faces along with regular cramps.
Failed Treatments and a Difficult Decision
Gathoni has tried various medications in an attempt to relieve the symptoms, but nothing has worked so far. As a result, she’s now considering forced menopause as a permanent solution to stop the suffering. She recently opened up about her experience in greater detail.
“I would say it’s a cousin of endometriosis, but not as severe as that. It only happens when I’m on my period. In my case, the uterine wall has blood clots that bleed during menstruation. This causes me double pain,” she explained, describing the nature of her condition.
Medical Advice and Lifestyle Adjustments
Following advice from her gynecologist, Gathoni has made some lifestyle changes. These include more exercise, dietary adjustments, and avoiding certain foods during her period. Despite these efforts, her symptoms persist.
One temporary solution suggested by her doctor was pregnancy, which would provide relief during the nine months when she wouldn’t have periods. However, Gathoni is not satisfied with this temporary fix.
“Another option the doctor has given me is to get pregnant, but that will only give me relief for nine months. It’s a temporary solution,” she added, acknowledging that she’s searching for something more permanent.
Looking Ahead: Forced Menopause as a Last Resort
With her next gynecological appointment scheduled for October, Gathoni is already exploring more definitive options. She has expressed willingness to consider forced menopause, should her condition worsen.
“I have tried all the medications, but nothing works. A permanent solution would be removing my uterus or going through forced menopause. If the problem is my periods, then not having them would be the answer. If it becomes necessary and the doctor advises it, I’ll do it,” Gathoni, who boasts 1.4 million followers on TikTok, shared.
What Is Forced Menopause?
Forced menopause, also known as induced menopause, occurs when a surgical procedure removes both ovaries before the body naturally stops ovarian function. This process halts menstruation permanently, often used as a treatment for severe conditions like Gathoni’s adenomyosis.
